Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a reactive hypermelanosis, profoundly common in the Asian skin. The post-acne sequelae may have profound effects on patients’ mental status, sometimes even more than acne itself, as they are long lasting and treatment refractory. PIH occurs secondary to release of inflammatory mediators such prostaglandins interleukins which stimulate melanogenesis. There multitude therapeutic modalities available for associated with acne. Treating simultaneously would be logical approach. Epidermal usually responds topical skin lightening agents first line these cases. Patients refractory oral dermal offered interventional therapies. These therapies can utilized along conventional hasten up results, combination works synergistically by multipronged action at different pathways etiopathogenesis. patients standard require other adjunctive chemical peels, PRP, lasers. This review provides an insight into rational holistic approach management underlying acne, early customized correction nutritional deficiencies, lifestyle modifications effective PIH.
